Patterned Paper - Use It or Hoard It?

Liz Weber

I found this definition for the word hoard:

A supply or fund stored up and often hidden away...

How much patterned paper do YOU have? Come on now and be honest...lol. Do you use it up as soon as you buy it or do you hoard it away and wait until just the “right” project comes along?

Surely I have enough now to pretty much start my own scrapbook shop - well one that just sells patterned paper and maybe Green Tara Flowers!

(Read on...)

I came from being a patterned paper snob - meaning that I ONLY ever bought Basic Grey paper and the mere thought of using something other than Basic Grey was just "unthinkable". I still adore Basic Grey and they are still my number one love, especially Blush, Periphery, Perhaps, Sultry, Sugared and Vagabond. I am very much looking forward to the new offerings from Basic Grey, but seriously there are now so many manufacturers creating some beautiful paper that it's hard to be true to only one brand.

If there was a serious competitor for my affection it would be Kaisercraft. They have been creating the most awesome papers AND they are double-sided. What a bonus for fussy scrappers who want and need the "latest" colours and patterns to satisfy their patterned paper thirst.

Now there are many many more manufacturers out there that are producing top notch products, WRMK, MME, Scenic Route, Crate Paper, Rusty Pickle, Little Yellow Bicycle, and a new love of mine, Pink paislee and that is just to name a few.

I know I will always look forward to the "latest" Basic Grey offerings but now I will not be a patterned paper snob, well maybe just a little!

What about YOU?

I just bought this one today and used it tonight – no hoarding this gorgeous paper.

Liz, I have a wonderful friend that seems to have one of the biggest PP stashes I have ever seen. She is always on the look out for PP of any color, design etc but when it comes to her choosing PP to use for a LO, she tends to be overwhelmed with too much choice!!

My PP stash however is what I would call lacking.....I tend to buy then use, with the odd ones hanging around for a bit, then I eventually use them.

I used to hoard but I have been good and started using up my stash. I went through my stash and found pp that I would never use and have no idea what was going through my mind when I brought it so a lot of pp was given away. But I still have some paper that I just can not cut into or do something with as it is just too yummy and I just want to look at it and I only have one sheet of it (I knew I should of brought more) so until I find the perfect thing for it, it will stay there uncut unused but much loved.

Mmmmm...I just love pp!  I have quite a large stash, but I do use it!  In some cases, I hate to cover it up with photos!  Silly, hey?  Some pp are works of art in themselves, I am a great fan of Kaiser, BG and Little Yellow Bicycle.
