Can I Use That On A Layout??

Sue Madex

Have you ever gotten the urge to use something odd in your scrapbooking?

My daughter got a cardboard lacing doll and clothes set as a present and we sat poking all the little holes out to get all the pieces ready for threading.

When we were done there was a pile of small multi-coloured chipboardish dots left. Hmmm – I had a sudden urge to rescue them from the scrap pile and get creative.

(Read on...)

With the help of a bit of glue, I came up with this...

It is a title page for a me album. The photo lifts up with an album description underneath. I was having a bit of a metallic hinge fetish here too!)

Not sure that I actually like the end result but it was fun to put together. Do you find that sometimes??

What other odd items have popped up in my collection of scrapbooks? I’ve been working on an album about my son. He came into our lives with some help from the wonderful Melbourne IVF crew and for a while there needles and sprays and what not played a big role in daily life here at our place. I tried a bunch of ways to put some of the medication packaging on a layout but it just wasn’t coming together. Grrrrrrr. A few stomps of the feet later and a break for a caffeine hit and I finally hit upon popping a piece of vellum over the top (with the title printed.)

Aaaahhh. That’s better - the more subtle look I was after with my medication boxes. Cutting out the sections from the burgundy overlay involved much more measuring than I usually do in a month. I’m usually more of a wing it girl!

Got any odd bits and pieces that have made their way onto one of your scrapbook pages??

* Oh I should probably add some fine print. My dotty scraps and needle boxes and the occasional other odd item that has made its way onto my layouts are most probably not acid free/lignin free and all that!
