Tracing Wheel In Helmar Video Tutorial

Video Of The Week 3rd April

by Jill on April 3, 2010

The video I’m sharing today is a tutorial from Helmar USA on faux stitching. No doubt you’ve seen faux stitching before, perhaps using a paper piercing tool to make the holes. This is a slight variant on the same idea, except using a serrated tracing wheel to make indentations on the paper prior to drawing the “stitches” with a pen.

For those who are sewing challenged and not sure what a tracing wheel is – it’s a tool used to trace and mark patterns onto fabric. (Well ok maybe it’s just me who didn’t know that!) In any case, it’s a wonderful alternative to the real thing. I suck at real life sewing, so this is a fabulous way to get a sewn effect on a scrapbooking project.

Running time: 4 min 25 sec. From the website click to the right of screen to play the video. Via email or rss, visit the related blog post to access the video.

You’re welcome Lee. Great to see you stopping by. I thought this was a great variation on the idea.
