Monoprinted Page Background Using Shimmerz Pearlz

Video Of The Week 27th Jan

by Jill on January 27, 2010

This week I’ve enjoyed watching a video from Shimmerz demonstrating a technique called “monoprinting” to create a scrapbooking page background. The technique involves dripping various paint colours onto a transparency (or acetate) sheet. A second transparency sheet is then placed over the top of the paint droplets. The top sheet is pressed down to “squish” the paint and then the sheet is rotated sideways to blend the colours. The final step is to separate the transparency sheets and both top and bottom sheets can be placed, paint surface down, onto onto a sheet of cardstock or paper. This action “prints” the blended paint onto the cardstock or paper’s surface.

In this demonstration the paint product used is called Shimmerz Pearlz. The finished result is a watercoloured effect with a glimmering sheen (pictured). Gorgeous.

The video’s running time is 5 mins 4 secs. If you’re reading via the website, click to the right of screen to watch the video. If you’re reading via email or RSS, visit the related blog post to access the video.

Happy viewing. ;)
