Christmas Card #9

Christmas Card Feature Day 9

by Jill on November 26, 2009

Welcome to Day 9 of my Christmas Card Feature. (If you missed the previous posts in this series, you’ll find them here – Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7 and Day 8.)

Thought this feature had gone down the gurgler? It almost did, along with myself. Thankfully I’ve recovered enough to make cards again. (I’ll attempt to get myself somewhat back on track over the next few days.)

Today’s card features a Christmas wreath made out of paper “leaf” shapes. Note I use the word “leaf” loosely. It’s really a very jagged, vaguely roundis shape I drew and then cut out of three different colours – two shades of green cardstock and a red patterned paper. There’s a round porthole in the face of the card which I’ve used as a template to arrange the wreath pieces around. The addition of a gold ribbon bow and gold sequin stars gives the wreath a little lift and makes it look a little bit more…well…wreath-like. Through the porthole you might be able to spy my greeting in a font called Brush Script. At the bottom, I’ve cheated and used faux rick-rick. In reality, it’s little more than a couple of wavy lines cut out of cardstock. If you have the real thing, I’d use that instead!

Inspiration came from the marriage of the porthole card idea in yesterday’s video of the week and the wreath from an image accompanying a DIY cardmaking article on a site called Pink Frosting.

Until tomorrow, enjoy! ;)
