I Inspire Me

Jill CostelloOn a recent blog hopping expedition, I discovered an interesting inspiration blog called "I Inspire Me". It’s a bi-weekly blog with about twelve regular contributors and as an added bonus there RAK prizes are offered to readers who submit their work to the blog.

A little bit of descriptive blurb on the blog’s sidebar blog says:

Look around you. Your home. Your couch. Your colors. All your tastes are already there…This is a scrapbook challenge where YOU are your own inspiration…

Huh? What? Initially that’s what I thought, but scrolling through the latest post there are images of  everyday  items that have inspired scrapbooking layouts. For example:

  • colours from a pile of bowls sitting on a kitchen bench
  • words and style from a t-shirt
  • pattern and colour of an old shoe
  • a note found in a child’s pocket
  • a vintage fan
  • shapes from a vase of metallic stars

Each inspiration source is shown, followed by a layout inspired by that item. Absolutely fascinating stuff! Would you have guessed that an old worn out shoe could be the source of inspiration for a scrapbooking layout? Not me!

It actually gives you quite a good insight into how some creative people think (like scrapbook designers). Truly an eye opening experience for someone as design-challenged as myself!

It’s well worth taking a peek, even if you’re just interested in some extra layout candy – there’s plenty of that there for you too.

If you’re inspired enough to get involved in the concept, readers are invited to share their own layouts along with the everyday items that inspired them and a RAK prize is awarded to one lucky submitter each fortnight.

As I said, a fascinating concept. I recommend you go take a look for yourself over at I Inspire Me. Enjoy!
